The Registered Dietitian at Select Specialty Hospital is responsible for providing quality nutritional care to critically ill or post-ICU patients. This full-time role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring Medical Nutrition Therapies while collaborating with medical staff, patients, and families to ensure effective nutrition care plans. The position emphasizes patient-centered care and requires a commitment to maintaining high standards in nutritional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality nutritional care to patients through the development, implementation, and monitoring of Medical Nutrition Therapies.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, patients, families, and food service departments to ensure nutrition care plans are implemented effectively.
  • Perform nutritional assessments and re-assessments, identifying goals and recommending nutrition interventions.
  • Develop and monitor enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support regimens.
  • Work with the Speech Therapy Department to assist with the progression of textured modified diets for patient safety.
  • Clarify admission orders to ensure consistency with the facility's nutrition support formulary and diet manual.
  • Consider religious, cultural, and ethnic factors in the development of nutrition care plans.
  • Review and approve the therapeutic diet manual annually.
  • Educate clinical and food service staff on the Nutrition Care Manual.
  • Maintain current professional registration requirements and demonstrate interest in continuing education.
  • Evaluate potential food/drug and herb/supplement interactions.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to communicate patient progress and special needs.
  • Participate in developing, planning, and standardizing menus.
  • Perform meal rounds to ensure meal trays meet prescribed diet standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with major studies in Food and Nutrition related field.
  • Current state licensure/certification, if required by state.
  • Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration.
  • One (1) year of work experience in a facility setting with clinical responsibilities or equivalent.
