About The Position

The Registered Dietician's role at Glenaire will assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans. They will also provide nutritional counseling and education support to individuals and community groups, as well as communicate with appropriate health care providers regarding dietary modifications.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Dietetics or related field of study
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records; knowledge of computational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Advise residents and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.
  • Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life. Coordinate diet counseling services.
  • Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate dietary, nutritional, and epidemiological research.
  • Plan and conduct training programs in dietetics, nutrition, and institutional management and administration for medical students, health-care personnel and the general public.
  • Make recommendations regarding public policy, such as nutrition labeling, food fortification, and nutrition standards.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.
