About the position

The Registered Dietician Nutritionist position in Endocrinology at UnitedHealth Group focuses on providing comprehensive diabetes education and medical nutrition therapy. The role involves working closely with endocrinology and primary care providers to support patients in managing diabetes through one-on-one consultations, teaching classes, and developing diabetes device programs. This full-time position emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and a commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one consultation for patients on diabetes devices
  • Deliver Diabetes Self-Management Education and Medical Nutrition Therapy as per provider referral
  • Teach diabetes classes
  • Document appropriately in Epic
  • Collaborate with the diabetes education team to develop a comprehensive diabetes device program
  • Interact actively with physicians and staff to promote a team approach to medical care
  • Follow up on requests for diabetes or nutrition information from teammates and patients promptly via phone, email or MyChart
  • Promote positive interpersonal relationships with fellow teammates, providers, physicians and patients
  • Attend monthly meetings for Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists

Requirements

  • Current registration and certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or CDCES
  • AHA-BLS certification
  • At least one year of experience in diabetes education and management
  • Experience in medical nutrition therapy

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree
  • Device certification with Medtronic, Tandem, Omnipod
  • 2+ years of experience in diabetes self-management education, medical nutrition therapy and diabetes management
  • Knowledge of diabetes management and various diets for medical nutrition therapy
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Epic experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid teaching, counseling, and negotiation skills
