About the position

The Refugee School Impact Assistant at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) plays a crucial role in supporting the logistics and implementation of programs aimed at assisting refugee children and their families. This position focuses on ensuring a high-quality service experience for clients by coordinating events, managing school enrollments, and facilitating client transportation. The Assistant will work closely with the Refugee School Impact Specialist to enhance program delivery and support the overall mission of the IRC.

Responsibilities

• Support the organization, logistics, and implementation for all programming, activities, events, and school enrollments.
• Conduct outreach to participants and maintain attendance records and relevant monitoring and evaluation tools.
• Enter high-quality data into the IRC's internal database and donor tracking spreadsheets to monitor program implementation and outcomes.
• Provide client service and support in accordance with program requirements, ensuring successful participation in programs.
• Access interpretation services to assist clients as needed.
• Provide transportation for E/RSI clients and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in education programs for children and school-aged students.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; bilingual ability preferred in Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, Pashto, or other refugee/immigrant languages used in Kansas.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural setting and with limited-English proficiency speakers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience using databases and information gathering systems.
• Valid driver's license and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
