This position is responsible for assisting in the repair and overhaul of equipment, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment to ensure customer needs are met efficiently, accurately, and on time. The technician will provide service to the customer base by repairing and overhauling equipment, such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and electrical and mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient, and timely manner that exceeds customers' expectations. The role also involves general repair work on refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment, such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors, and electric motors. Additionally, the technician will perform preventative maintenance activities for customers by diagnosing equipment malfunctions and any operating deficiencies of the mechanical equipment to ensure quality work performance. Testing malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and/or mechanical skills is also a key responsibility. Maintaining legible corporate and personal records of work history, processing job tickets, and work orders promptly, and providing support by picking up, delivering, and installing cases are essential tasks. The technician will also perform work on minor construction and remodeling projects, including startups of new installations, and will drive the company vehicle in a safe manner. Other related duties and projects may be assigned by management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the repair and overhaul of refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.
  • Provide service by repairing and overhauling equipment such as compressors, water pumps, and air handlers.
  • Perform general repair work on refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  • Test malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Maintain legible corporate and personal records of work history.
  • Process job tickets and work orders promptly to the necessary department.
  • Provide support by picking up, delivering, and installing cases.
  • Perform work on minor construction and remodeling projects including startups of new installations.
  • Drive company vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • EPA certification.
  • Certification from an accredited vocational-technical or trade school is a plus.
  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial refrigeration experience required.
  • Experience working on refrigeration equipment in convenience stores or supermarkets is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with single systems and rack systems along with previous work on display cases and walk-in boxes is very helpful.
  • Good driving record and ability to work independently.
  • Emergency on-call availability is a basic requirement.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. with no assistance and to sit and/or stand for several hours at a time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HVAC-R systems.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools and techniques for refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with commercial service and installation processes.
