About The Position

In this role, you will serve as an integral part of the LGM-35A Sentinel Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle (RSRV) Branch within the Flight Systems IPT. Flight Systems plays a critical role within the Sentinel program, focusing on evaluating the design of solid rocket motors, guidance, navigation and control equipment, post-boost liquid propulsion systems, reentry vehicles, and support equipment. BAE Systems is seeking a dynamic and exceptional Project Manager to support the RSRV team. As a Project Manager within this team, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and oversight throughout the lifecycle of the acquisition process, from planning, development, testing, implementation, delivery, and sustainment. The RSRV Branch collaborates closely with the customer and prime contractor to ensure meticulous alignment with project requirements throughout the design and development phases. The ideal candidate will forge strong partnerships with both our customers and our dedicated team of engineers and project managers. With this team, you will pioneer innovation, conduct risk assessments, assess technical suitability, thoroughly evaluate schedule impacts, and orchestrate activities towards achieving success of the RSRV Systems.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in: Business Administration, Project Management, technical field or equivalent.
  • 7 years of demonstrated experience (5 years with a master’s degree) in Project Management in support of defense systems, technology, or research and development activities.
  • Workload planning and collaboration using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience managing mid-sized projects or serving as a key contributor on larger projects.
  • Strong initiative and an ability to organize daily tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives and implement solutions.
  • Adaptability and resilience in managing project complexities and navigating challenges that arise during execution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and collaboration, to foster teamwork and build positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project status, updates, and key decisions to stakeholders through presentations, meeting, or reports.

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance/Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to guide the acquisition process effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and cross-functional teams, to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Work Closely with the customer to understand and document project requirements, ensuring they are clearly defined and achievable within project constraints.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the acquisition process, conducting thorough risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.
  • Monitor project progress against Earned Value (EV) Metrics and planned schedules, utilizing EV tools and techniques to identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions to keep the program on schedule.
  • Utilize EVM principles to manage project expenditures against earned value metrics and allocated budgets, tracking expenses and recommend cost-saving measures to maximize value for the program.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet the requirement, standards, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant DoD Acquisition regulations, policies, and procedures, including FAR and DFARS requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the acquisition process, implementing best practices and lessons learned to enhance program outcomes and performance.
  • Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders, provide updates on project status, milestones achieved, and key decisions to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the program.
  • Ensure a cohesive and dynamic team atmosphere, guiding and supporting project team members under the oversight of the leadership to optimize their capabilities and enhance their contributions to the program.
