About the position

Provide services as a Recruitment and Outreach Specialist in support of the overall functions of the OD/IOD. The role involves the development of the RECOVER-TLC Communications and Community Engagement Strategy, which includes assessing the needs of various communities, identifying engagement mechanisms, and developing proposals for staffing and organization. The position also requires designing an evaluation process to monitor communication effectiveness and developing an implementation plan and timeline for the strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Development of the RECOVER-TLC Communications and Community Engagement Strategy addressing the needs from the patient, academic, health care provider, and industry communities.
  • Identification of mechanisms to engage these communities, especially the patient community, in all levels of RECOVER-TLC.
  • Identification of approaches for community input to be provided to the Executive Committee.
  • Identification of approaches for NIAID and FNIH to work in a complementary manner in communications and community engagement.
  • Development of a proposal for staffing, organization, and specific roles to manage Communications and Community Engagement for RECOVER-TLC.
  • Design of an evaluation process to monitor RECOVER-TLC's communication and engagement effectiveness.
  • Development of an Implementation Plan and Timeline for the RECOVER-TLC Communications and Community Engagement Strategy.
  • Conduct a needs assessment of the communications and community engagement needs of each of the four communities.
  • Develop specific strategies to implement the findings of the needs assessment, such as monthly webinars, e-newsletters, blogs, forums, etc.
  • Determine the frequency for updates/workshops and the best format to convene such events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science related field.
  • Six (6) years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with community organizations concerning NIH-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Extensive knowledge of NIH and HHS policies, procedures, and regulations regarding community engagement and communications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Office application skills.
