About the position
The Recreation Operations/Scheduling Coordinator at Emory University is responsible for managing the daily operations of the George W. Woodruff Physical Education Center and/or the Student Academic & Activity Center. This role involves planning and developing policies for facility usage, supervising staff, and supporting athletic and recreation event administration. The coordinator will oversee facility operations, manage scheduling for events, and ensure compliance with university policies and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the George W. Woodruff Physical Education Center and/or Student Academic & Activity Center.
- Plan and develop policies for facility usage and informal recreation.
- Identify, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare participation reports.
- Assist with budget preparation and support special events administration.
- Oversee non-varsity athletic facility reservations and rentals.
- Provide on-site coordination of special events and recreational programs.
- Develop and apply policies and procedures related to facility use.
- Assist with management of external summer camp activities.
- Serve as a member of the Games Management Team for Special Olympics of Georgia State Summer Games.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in sports management, physical education, recreation/leisure administration, or related field.
- One year of related experience in recreation operations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required (must be obtained within 60 days of hire).
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree preferred.
- Graduate assistantship or internship experience in facility operations.
