About the position

The Recovery Room Specialist supports school administrators and staff in addressing student behavior and related challenges to ensure a positive learning environment. This role implements behavior intervention strategies, monitors school-wide referral processes, and provides support to students and families, including enrollment, wrap-around services, and transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel students at risk and those referred for behavioral issues.
  • Monitor and implement interventions for students with severe behavioral issues.
  • Provide individual and group training on behavior modification techniques.
  • Conduct conflict mediations among students.
  • Assist with redirecting and de-escalating crisis behaviors.
  • Collaborate with the PBIS team to design and implement behavior plans.
  • Meet with enrolling families to assess support needs.
  • Conduct home visits to address student behavior and academics.
  • Serve as a school liaison to parents regarding behavioral concerns.
  • Coordinate wrap-around services and collaborate with agencies.
  • Support students in academic goal setting and progress monitoring.
  • Document and recommend recognition for student successes.
  • Collect, document, and write data, reports, and child records for behavior intervention planning.
  • Provide monthly referral reports to school administrators.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of behavior management techniques.
  • Track outcomes for sharing best practices.
  • Coordinate case supervision and student interventions.
  • Communicate with children, families, staff, and agencies.
  • Confer with program specialists for assessments and documentation.
  • Maintain a productive daily schedule for reports and activities.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and workshops.
  • Be active in building-wide culture and climate implementation of PBIS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related Social Science field, OR 3 years of experience working with at-risk children.
  • Experience working with student discipline, special education, and behavior intervention.
  • Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with students, staff, families, and agencies.
  • Accessible transportation for home visits and agency meetings.
