About the position
The Reception and Switchboard Operator at Samaritans Purse plays a crucial role in providing a welcoming environment for guests and managing communication through phone calls. This position is centered around excellent customer service, assisting staff and visitors, and supporting the organization's mission through effective communication and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones and interact with donors in a warm, professional manner.
- Determine caller needs and route calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Receive guests, vendors, and salespersons, making them welcome and creating a positive environment.
- Assist guests, vendors, and salespersons with visitor registration.
- During emergencies, assist with communications to Facilities, Security, or Emergency Services.
- Provide backup coverage for all reception desks including the Boone campus, North Wilkesboro campus, and other locations as needed.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of Samaritans Purse history and mission.
- Monitor the answering machine each morning for calls received after hours and during weekends and disburse messages as needed.
- Assist with various other administrative duties.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of donors or employees.
