About the position

The Real Property Specialist position at Diversified Property Services, Inc. is a full-time, contract role focused on managing government property transactions and agreements. The role requires a self-starter with a strong background in real estate law and paralegal studies, who can effectively negotiate and prepare legal documents related to property acquisition and management. This position offers opportunities for fieldwork and collaboration with various stakeholders in capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare agreements related to third party occupations of government properties.
  • Maintain the property/asset management inventory database.
  • Negotiate agreements for government services in accordance with State and Federal policies.
  • Conduct negotiations for property acquisition and/or disposition of excess properties.
  • Prepare Maryland State Clearinghouse packages for surplusing excess property.
  • Utilize GIS for property research and development of maps and exhibits for legal documents.
  • Serve as a liaison with public agencies, utility companies, and consultants on capital projects.
  • Coordinate with internal customers such as planning, engineering, and attorneys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Paralegal Studies, Business, Law or related major.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industry practice experience in real estate or paralegal services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong writing skills for preparing legal documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four-year college degree in a related field.
  • Experience in real estate services such as rights-of-way and title work.
  • Exceptional writing skills for legal documentation.
  • Skills in reading maps, plats, and plans.
  • Experience with GIS software or similar mapping applications.
