About The Position

FreeStar Financial Credit Union is looking for a dynamic and passionate professional to join our Real Estate Lending Department. The primary purpose of a Real Estate Lending Processor is to assist FreeStar Financial Credit Union in fulfilling our mission to positively impact the lives of our members, team members, and community through making meaningful connections and progressive financial solutions. This is done by providing superior service to our membership. This is accomplished by gathering and analyzing member's financial information for the purpose of determining qualifying status for mortgage loans. Interview and answer any questions concerning loans and rates. Collate, review and verify loan documents necessary to the transaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of similar or related experience in the financial industry.
  • Must have knowledge of various federal regulations and the responsibilities relating to each act of the following: Right to Financial Privacy Act, Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act – HMDA), Regulation CC (Funds Availability), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), SAFE Act.

Responsibilities

  • Input all real estate lending applications into the correct origination system (HELOCs vs. First Mortgage applications).
  • Receive mortgage applications from all origination sources. Review information and ensure a complete application is obtained. Update member records and contact members as needed to obtain missing information.
  • Prepare the application for the mortgage loan officers to make a decision. Ensure that the loan meets policy guidelines, accuracy of rate, and other important details to ensure that the loan officers have sufficient information to make a loan decision.
  • Act as one of the primary contacts for members and for originators, keeping all parties informed of the status of the file throughout the application process (within privacy guidelines) including maintain tracking and conversation logs.
  • Obtain and reviewing all necessary documentation from the borrower as required in the loan process type or as directed by underwriting such as pay stubs, asset documents, letters of explanation, etc. Review the information received to ensure it is complete.
  • Assemble the fully documented file and forward to underwriting for a credit evaluation.
  • Schedule closings and inform members of any additional documentation needed for approval and/or closing.
  • Create and review closing documents for accuracy and conduct mortgage closings.
  • Meet monthly required standards for loan closings as established by management.
  • Interview members for purchase/refinance mortgages and obtain all required documentation as necessary.
