About the position

The Controller position at a rapidly expanding real estate investment firm involves overseeing fund accounting and financial reporting, managing capital calls and distributions, and collaborating with the investment team on financial strategies. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance and operational efficiency while supporting the CFO in various finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fund accounting, including the preparation of financial statements, NAV calculations, and investor reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, and maintain strong relationships with third-party service providers.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and provide strategic insights on fund structuring, cash flow management, and financial strategy.
• Collaborate with the investment team on funding strategies, liquidity planning, and banking relationships.
• Oversee tax filings, regulatory compliance, and the preparation of quarterly performance reports.
• Lead the annual audit process and support the CFO with finance department initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in investment funds, such as private equity, private credit, or venture capital.
• Comprehensive knowledge of investment partnership accounting.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, analytical, and team-focused with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
