About the position
The Real Estate Attorney at Avis Budget Group will oversee all real estate legal matters in the United States, focusing on complex airport concession agreements and leases, as well as local market leases. This role involves providing legal counsel and support for various real estate matters, managing outside counsel, and ensuring effective resolution of disputes throughout the term of agreements and leases.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and negotiate airport concession agreements and leases.
- Serve as the primary contact for US-related real estate legal matters.
- Direct and supervise outside counsel to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Coordinate real estate abstracts and advise on lease interpretation and administration.
- Assist in the acquisition or disposition of franchise operations regarding real estate issues.
- Provide legal advice to the VP of Real Estate and staff on all real estate matters.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- 3-5 years of experience in real estate law at a major law firm or in-house.
- Extensive understanding of real estate law and complex lease agreements.
- Experience with airport concessions and/or retail locations preferred.
- Highly effective negotiating skills and solid business judgment.
- Experience in maintaining and managing budgets for real estate legal work.
- Strong project management experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Government Affairs/Regulatory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Visual Lease or similar lease administration software.
- Understanding of airport procurement procedures.
- General knowledge of local government operations.
