About the position

The Radiologic Technologist position at CHI St. Alexius Health involves performing radiographic procedures and computed tomography exams under the direction of a radiologist. The role requires technical expertise in imaging, patient care, and equipment operation, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services while adhering to safety standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide Radiologist with proper equipment and history to complete patient exams.
• Obtain radiographs/CT images of various body parts, ensuring proper patient positioning for all exams.
• Set equipment for the lowest radiation dose for exams.
• Place proper patient ID and right/left markers on all exams.
• Assess imaging for proper technique before submission for Radiologist review.
• Perform proper coding and charging for all procedures.
• Obtain patient consent for contrast exams and start IVs for contrast exams in collaboration with nursing staff.
• Perform EKGs and assist Lab with Phlebotomy tasks.
• Share on-call hours, weekends, and holidays with other technologists, accommodating co-workers as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of contrast material usage and potential drug reactions.
• Process all images and manage copies as required.
• Maintain a clean and disinfected work area, performing quality control in the Radiology Department.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure proper equipment operation and compliance with accreditation standards.
• Assist the Department Manager with gathering QA data and suggesting new QA indicators.
• Transport patients as needed and properly release all patient diagnostic exams.
• Schedule all patient exams and perform technical aspects of patient care in a timely and safe manner according to established standards.
