About the position

Harborview Medical Center - Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a PART-TIME 90% FTE, DAY SHIFT RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST, MRI. In this role, you will prepare patients for examinations, explain the procedure, and answer patients' questions. You will screen patients for any contraindications to MRI exams and review patient medical history on exam requests, consulting with physicians as necessary to ensure proper exams for each patient. You will prescribe proper scanning parameters for the most common MRI exams with the assistance of documented or computer-prescribed protocols, determine optimal imaging options to minimize artifacts and decrease scan time, and post-process if needed. You will also calculate and administer appropriate contrast for exams under the supervision of a Radiologist. Additionally, you will ensure that patients are properly scheduled in the Radiology Information System (RIS), that exams are completed with proper billing, and that exams are filmed, archived, and sent to PACS properly. You will monitor equipment to ensure diagnostic exams, troubleshoot and repair basic system malfunctions, practice equipment safety policies and procedures, restock rooms of all supplies as needed, and perform related duties as required.

  • Films, archives, and sends exams to PACS properly.
  • Monitors equipment to ensure diagnostic exams are performed correctly.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs basic system malfunctions.
  • Practices equipment safety policies and procedures.
  • Restocks rooms with supplies as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA-approved school.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a 3-month formal clinical/didactic training program in the applicable modality.
  • 6 months as a Registered Technologist or 1 year as a Registered Technologist with completion of advanced coursework in the applicable modality.
