About the position

As a mobile radiologic technologist at DispatchHealth, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services directly to patients in various settings. Your primary responsibility will be to utilize a company vehicle equipped with a compact, portable x-ray machine (DR) to travel locally and perform x-rays on patients in diverse facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, correctional institutions, and residential homes. This position offers a dynamic work experience that provides more freedom and flexibility compared to traditional hospital or clinic x-ray departments. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of patient populations, including adults, geriatrics, women, and children, ensuring that you meet their unique imaging needs. In addition to performing x-rays, you may also be required to utilize EKGs, Holter Monitors, and conduct Pacemaker Checks, depending on the market. The role demands a strong understanding of electronic and technical factors to ensure accurate imaging while adhering to ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure. You will be responsible for preparing and transmitting accurate physician and patient orders in a timely manner, ensuring that all equipment is in working order before and after your shifts. This position also involves assisting with administrative tasks, such as order taking, validation of studies, and communication with reading radiologists. Responsibilities

  • Travel by vehicle to perform portable x-rays in various settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, correctional institutions, and residential homes.
  • Determine proper electronic and technical factors based on patient needs.
  • Follow ALARA principles for reducing radiation exposure.
  • Prepare accurate physician and patient orders and transmit readings as required in a timely manner.
  • Set, adjust, and operate a variety of electronic equipment to obtain diagnostic images, including EKGs and Holter Monitors.
  • Ensure the equipment is available and in working order prior to shift start and shift end.
  • Assist with order taking, validation of studies, communication with reading radiologists, customer call-backs, and other administrative and customer support functions as directed.

Requirements

  • Meet all state-specific and federal requirements to perform portable x-rays, including being registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist RT (R) or Limited Scope X-ray Operator as per state-specific requirements.
  • Possess a valid state-issued driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Ability to move or lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs easily while carrying equipment.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule that may require evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mobile imaging services.
