About the position

The Radiology Technologist at Duke Spine and Pain Management of Raleigh plays a crucial role in providing direct and indirect care to patients. This position involves preparing patients for radiologic procedures, ensuring safety from radiation hazards, and operating radiographic equipment for medical diagnosis and treatment. The technologist will also assist with patient intake, laboratory specimen collection, and maintain radiographic equipment, contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
  • Takes fluoro images using a C-Arm following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
  • Adjusts/sets radiographic controls.
  • Positions patients and takes fluoro images of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians.
  • Sets up sterile trays for procedures.
  • Performs intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
  • Assists with collection of laboratory specimens and coordinates send-off to third party labs.
  • Explains treatment procedures to patients.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.

Requirements

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
  • Level I must obtain certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.
  • ARRT certification in radiography OR ARRT certification within 18 months of hire.
  • BLS certification.

Benefits

  • $10,000 Commitment Bonus eligible, paid out in 4 equal installments over 24 months in 6-month increments.
