About The Position

Performs routine diagnostic, technical and/or special radiographic procedures at a general skill level. This role involves performing radiographic examinations, obtaining patient history, explaining procedures, and addressing patient concerns. The radiographer will also perform diagnostic procedures in specialty areas such as operating room procedures, complex portables, or trauma procedures. They will schedule cases, position and transfer patients safely, and ensure proper image processing and quality control. The position also requires participation in departmental improvement projects and adherence to safety and quality standards. Common expectations include demonstrating knowledge of patient growth and development, providing age-specific care, and maintaining a commitment to patient safety and error reduction. The role also involves enhancing professional growth and providing outstanding customer service. On-call duties are also a requirement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Registered Technologist-Radiography - ARRT Upon Hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire
  • Accredited program in radiologic technology Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic examinations, obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures in one of the following specialty areas at a beginner level: operating room procedures (includes overhead, fluoroscopic and C-arm procedures), complex portables, or trauma procedures.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
  • Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
  • Properly processes images using digital technology.
  • Evaluates recorded images for technical quality; consistently maintains a repeat rate under 6%.
  • Participates in and collaborates with other departments on projects to improve care and efficiency as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
