About the position
Sentara is hiring Radiation Therapist in Norfolk and throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia. The positions available include Full Time Onsite at Norfolk General Hospital, Full Time Float in Hampton Roads, and PRN Float in Hampton Roads. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is offered for qualified candidates. The Radiation Therapist will provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist according to established practices and standards. Duties may include delivering external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy treatment, performing patient simulations, reviewing patient records for accuracy, acting as a liaison with physicians and supportive care personnel, and maintaining patient records, reports, and files. All new graduates will remain Radiation Therapist I for the first 2 years of employment and are required to pass boards within 6 months of hire. Completion of an approved certification program prior to 2016 in lieu of an Associate's degree will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Deliver external beam radiotherapy to include (3D, IMRT, SRS/SBRT)
- Deliver brachytherapy treatment
- Perform patient simulations; preparing equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices
- Review patient records for accuracy
- Act as liaison with physician and supportive care personnel
- Maintain patient records, reports, and files
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology REQUIRED
- Certification/Licensure required to pass boards within 6-months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire
- No experience required
