About the position

UofL Health - Brown Cancer Center is an academic cancer center affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. The cancer center's goal is to make cancer a disease of the past through cutting-edge care, innovative clinical trials and cancer prevention efforts. Brown Cancer Center is home to Kentucky's first and longest-accredited program by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. We are a nationally recognized center for developing experimental cancer therapeutics and diagnostics and have the most significant cancer trials program in the region. We are a global leader in the clinical trial testing of new immunotherapies that activate your body's immune system to fight cancer and have become early adopters of these immunotherapies that reduce the cancer death rate in the U.S. The Center for Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy has been established through experts at the Brown Cancer Center to understand further the role of cancer and the immune system to identify new therapeutic targets and develop innovative treatment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver radiation treatments to cancer patients following the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Operate various highly technical equipment with accuracy and precision.
  • Participate in clinical and/or didactic instruction and evaluation of Radiation Therapist (RTT) Students.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures of the department.
  • Comply with local, state and federal rules and regulations and the requirements of accrediting bodies.
  • Provide service to all age patients; neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an approved program in Radiologic Technology with completion of approved curriculum in Radiation Therapy.
  • Must be board certified in Radiation Therapy, or board eligible. Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Commonwealth of KY Radiation Operator Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of 6 months of prior experience as a Radiation Therapist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years experience in Radiation Therapy
  • Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy
