Anduril IndustriesFort Collins, CO
$111,000 - $147,000

About The Position

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years. The Anduril Battlespace Awareness Radar team develops innovative and differentiated radar solutions to tackle national security challenges for America and its allies. We are looking for highly collaborative engineers that will bring significant expertise, experience, and energy to the team's endeavors. Anduril is seeking an experienced Radar Software Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to contribute to the development of application-level software for our next-generation radar systems. This role focuses on building the software that powers radar applications—including mission software, data processing pipelines, user-facing tools, and system integration. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in modern software development practices, experience with reproducible build and deployment environments using Nix and NixOS, and a passion for solving complex problems in the radar and sensor domain.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Proficiency in C++.
  • Proven experience designing and building application-level software, including modular components, services, or data processing pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Nix for reproducible builds, package management, development environments, and/or system configuration.
  • Experience designing and developing APIs for internal or external consumers.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering practices that promote software reliability, maintainability, testability, and security (e.g., unit testing, code reviews, secure coding practices).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Python is nice-to-have.
  • Familiarity with radar systems, signal processing concepts, or sensor data applications.
  • Experience building software that operates across multiple processes, services, or networked nodes.
  • Experience with data pipelines, streaming frameworks, or high-throughput data processing.
  • Exposure to messaging frameworks or middleware such as gRPC, Protobuf, ZeroMQ, DDS, or similar.
  • Experience with Docker, or modern CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience authoring custom Nix derivations, flakes, overlays, or contributing to nixpkgs.
  • Strong comfort developing in Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with the radar product lifecycle and associated technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain application-level software for radar systems, with a focus on maintainability, testability, reliability, and performance.
  • Build and enhance radar applications, including data processing workflows, mission-level software, configuration tools, and operator-facing interfaces.
  • Contribute to a scalable software platform with well-defined APIs that enable reusable building blocks adaptable for various radar products and applications.
  • Define and document APIs for component-to-component communication and for integration with external systems and third-party consumers.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible build, packaging, and deployment workflows using Nix to ensure consistency across development, test, and production environments.
  • Lead performance analysis and optimization of radar application software, focusing on efficient data handling and processing throughput.
  • Champion software development best practices, including coding standards, design patterns, version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including signal processing engineers, algorithm specialists, systems engineers, and product managers—to translate requirements into well-designed software.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making across the team.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends in radar software, distributed systems, and sensor applications to drive innovation.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees
