About the position

The position involves performing and monitoring diagnostic radiology procedures as per written protocols requested by physician's orders, with modifications as necessary based on Radiologist's or RA's preferences. The role requires adherence to established organizational and departmental policies, standard operating procedures, quality assessment, and safety protocols. The individual will assist Radiologists, RAs, and other healthcare providers while interacting with patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The position demands problem-solving abilities, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to patient-first characteristics. Responsibilities also include maintaining a safe working environment, being available for on-call and call-back duties, and assisting lead technologists in cost containment and quality improvement recommendations. The role requires thorough patient screening, positioning, instruction, and follow-up assessments, as well as producing high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by Radiologists or RAs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and monitor diagnostic radiology procedures per written protocol.
  • Adhere to established organizational and departmental policies and safety protocols.
  • Assist Radiologists, RAs, and other providers.
  • Interact with patients of all ages.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be available for on-call and call-back responsibilities.
  • Assist lead technologists in cost containment and quality improvement.
  • Order and maintain supplies from vendors.
  • Screen, position, instruct, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Select proper factors, exposures, and sequences for equipment.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Charge exams in the ITS system.
  • Assist with logs and documentation.
  • Supervise and evaluate students.
  • Perform quality assurance testing.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Use sterile techniques as required.
  • Assist with sedations and invasive special procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology equipment and pre-exam screening requirements within 3 months of hire.
  • Computer literate with understanding of PACS, CR/DR, HIS/RIS systems.
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of cross-section anatomy.
  • Ability to critique images against measurable criteria.
  • Capable of independent judgment without direct supervision.
  • IV insertion competency if applicable.
  • Ability to administer IV/oral contrast as directed by Radiologist.
