About the position

The R&D Engineer at Kentuckiana Curb Company, Inc. is responsible for researching, evaluating, and testing new ideas and products related to HVAC systems. This role involves integrating software and machine learning into HVAC processes, designing products using SolidWorks, and coding in Python and VBA. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, prepare technical reports, and contribute to the development of educational materials and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and test new ideas, products, designs, processes, controls, programs, and components for HVAC products.
• Develop and integrate software and machine learning into R&D processes and HVAC equipment.
• Recommend design modifications to eliminate HVAC system malfunctions.
• Design HVAC products using SolidWorks sheet metal design.
• Code using Python and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
• Design, build, and conduct testing of new technology and mechanical products for HVAC systems.
• Use Yokogawa data acquisition system software for HVAC testing procedures.
• Collaborate with New Product Development and Product Engineering on projects.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing technical evaluations of HVAC products.
• Develop knowledge of various technologies used in the HVAC marketplace by competitors.
• Develop processes to evaluate new ideas and package them for organizational use.
• Pursue new ideas that lead to patents and technological breakthroughs.
• Develop educational materials and host training sessions related to the HVAC industry.
• Research and apply for research funds and grant opportunities.
• Engage with HVAC industry associations to drive code changes and technology introduction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in designing HVAC products with at least 3 months of experience.
• Proficiency in coding using Python with at least 3 months of experience.
• Proficiency in coding using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) with at least 3 months of experience.
• Proficiency in using Yokogawa data acquisition system software with at least 3 months of experience.
• Proficiency in using SolidWorks sheet metal design with at least 3 months of experience.
