About the position

As a Quantitative Researcher at Nasdaq, you will play a vital role in analyzing potential market manipulation schemes and collaborating with attorneys on various cases. Your responsibilities will include working with surveillance analysts on trading activity referrals that may indicate misconduct, as well as engaging with other regulatory bodies such as exchanges, FINRA, and the SEC. Your analytical skills and judgment will be crucial in making fair and impactful decisions that influence our markets, member firms, and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze potential market manipulation schemes.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on cases.
  • Assist colleagues with complex data issues.
  • Work with surveillance analysts on referrals of trading activity that may signal misconduct.
  • Engage with other regulators, such as exchanges, FINRA, and the SEC.
  • Develop and apply analytics and data visualizations to solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • A completed degree in STEM (or related field). PhD a plus.
  • Three or more years of professional data science/advanced analytics experience (statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, etc.).
  • Experience or demonstrable interest in equities and/or options trading.
  • Knowledge of market structure and securities industry rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Expertise in Python. Knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, and AWS a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply analytics and data visualizations to solve complex problems.
  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple matters at once, compiling and managing data from numerous sources in support of ongoing investigations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; particularly the ability to present investigative findings and conclusions clearly and concisely.
  • Must be comfortable working independently or collaboratively, as required.
