About The Position

The Quality Technician II position provides essential support to the Quality areas, working closely with Production Supervisors/Leads, Inventory Supervisors, Quality Leads & Managers, vendors, and customers. This role involves projecting a positive image and contributing to increased efficiency, accountability, and overall quality. The position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor and requires weekend work to support 24/7 production schedules.

Requirements

  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
  • Maintain and enforce all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs not your back. Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, watching for forklift traffic and trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Sampling, testing, and reporting results.
  • Re-testing, monitoring, and filing all deviations and laboratory results.
  • Maintaining stocks and supplies for laboratory devices and equipment.
  • Suggesting, creating, and increasing efficiency for various test methods and laboratory practices.
  • Maintaining lab equipment in good condition and proper calibration.
  • Providing support for Manufacturing related to on-line testing or production controls.
  • Updating, revising, reviewing, and implementing GMPs.
  • Assisting R&D projects and customers with laboratory capabilities and resources.
  • Assisting in developing budget items and cost analysis for all lab tests and supplies.
  • Maintaining adequate reserve samples and sample retain system.
  • Initiating and collecting cleaning samples as assigned.
  • Issuance of Batch Records, labels, and other manufacturing documents; including reviews.
  • Approving raw materials and product contact packaging for use in production.
  • Reviewing and filing raw material COA’s.
  • Providing support to warehouse regarding materials handling and approval.
  • Assisting in training for manufacturing personnel for GMO and documents as appropriate.
  • Reviewing and auditing Batch Records.
  • Remedying discrepancies and performing investigations for issues concerning the status of all materials.
  • Assisting in developing new Batch Records for customers and revising as appropriate.
  • Monitoring on-line testing equipment as directed by supervisors.
  • Performing raw materials analysis when required.
  • Assisting with the status of all materials handled (Kosher, Halal, Allergen, Organic, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, etc.).
  • Performing and assisting with scheduled audits and internal inspections.
  • Ensuring SDS documentation is available for raw materials and chemicals used on site.
  • Enforcing documents, GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Allergen, Food Safety Culture, and company policies.
  • Reporting suspicious activity or unusual observations to Management.
  • Following proper SOP’s, cGMPs, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Allergen, Food Safety Culture, and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
