About the position

The Quality Engineer at Hitachi Astemo Americas, Inc. is responsible for ensuring that the company's and customers' quality requirements are met for assigned products and programs. This role involves reviewing design documents, developing training strategies for quality systems, implementing inspection standards, and leading projects to improve product quality. The Quality Engineer will also coordinate audits, analyze complex problems, and document inspection activities to maintain high-quality standards in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review design drawings, operation sheets, and quality manuals to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Develop and implement training strategies for Quality Systems and manufacturing associates on testing equipment.
  • Measure the capacity of testing equipment to meet testing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain inspection standards for auditing raw materials and products.
  • Coordinate auditing and documentation of products at different manufacturing stages.
  • Lead projects to improve quality based on internal/external findings or customer complaints.
  • Perform joint analysis of complex problems with suppliers and other departments to determine root causes.
  • Participate in Kaizen activities to develop countermeasures for customer complaints.
  • Initiate and complete studies such as CPK for parts supplied to customers.
  • Document data and maintain databases related to inspection activities and quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in quality engineering or a related role.
  • Proficiency in ATS, SPC, FMEA, and knowledge of measuring equipment such as calipers and CMM.
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong customer service and detail orientation.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Proven QC technical skills including Capability Studies, APQP, and PPAP.
  • Ability to read blueprints and measure parts accurately.
  • Supervisory experience with at least two years supervising technical personnel.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; some Access experience preferred.
