About the position

The Quality Control Sensory Technician position at ADM in Erlanger, KY, is a full-time role focused on providing sensory support for the laboratory. The technician will implement training for other technicians, ensure organoleptic accuracy, and track data to confirm proper sensory analysis. This role involves customer interactions, root cause analysis for sensory failures, and implementing improvements to enhance quality protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement sensory training program for quality control team.
  • Maintain documentation and validation logs concerning sensory results for all QC team members.
  • Assess risks based on common flavor failure modes.
  • Educate and grow quality team members' knowledge regarding sensory techniques.
  • Ensure alignment of all finished product testing with Product Release Specifications and the Quality Management System.
  • Administer weekly flavor training and refreshers for QC technicians.
  • Assess performance testing with other ADM facilities and sensory owners.
  • Identify and rectify recurring issues with meeting sensory standards between production and development.
  • Support QC teams through fact-based decisions and professional communication.
  • Administer yearly sensory validation for all QC technicians.
  • Push lab technicians to maintain data integrity and efficiency.
  • Perform sensory step in approval for key customers.
  • Assist in customer and 3rd party audits pertaining to sensory.
  • Participate in Cross-functional teams to assure quality requirements are met.
  • Represent the quality labs in a professional manner to external and internal parties.
  • Bring new ideas and improvements to quality protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in sensory panels when needed.
  • Support operations investigations with sensory testing when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in food science, biology, or related laboratory-based field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Food laboratory environment or related technical area.
  • Experience with multiple organoleptic test setups is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as negotiation, influencing, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally with internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to innovate and adapt best practices.
  • Ability to encourage trust between operations, Development, and Quality departments.
