About the position

Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec Company, is currently hiring for a Quality Manager. The Quality Manager is responsible for, but not limited to providing leadership on quality of work performed at project sites. This location-based position encompasses worksites throughout the assigned project area in Mt. Pleasant, TX and requires an average of 25% travel. A vehicle allowance and fuel card will be provided. When overnight travel is required, meals and lodging will also be provided. Responsibilities

  • Supports the project team from preconstruction planning through project completion.
  • Reviews drawings and submittals with the project team for conformance with project requirements.
  • Communicates regularly with Project Managers to provide quality control updates and advise of issues or problems that may affect progress.
  • Develops site-specific quality procedures and reviews with Project Engineer as necessary to support the project requirements.
  • Assists jobsite leadership with resolution of client complaints that are quality related.
  • Orders and receives needed project materials and equipment as advised.
  • Coordinates and administers weekly quality meetings and/or identification of safety meeting elements relevant to quality.
  • Monitors quality practices daily, along with ongoing inspections to minimize the need for corrections and punch-list items.
  • Implements the delegated authority to stop work in the event of quality issues.
  • Provides direction to the Project Engineer on quality related items and maintains priority on critical path items necessary to keep the project schedule.
  • Monitors subcontractor and vendor performance with respect to timeliness, efficiency, and quality.
  • Prepares and submits reports involving inventory, calibrations, document control logs, ongoing and completed work items, weather conditions, and quality issues.
  • Provides weekly updates for as-built conditions and continual maintenance of safety logs.
  • Enforces and champions the requirements of the site quality program and other project quality and technical requirements.
  • Coordinates with Project Manager to ensure all project close-out documents are complete and submitted.
  • Acts as a Lead Auditor to plan, perform, report quality audits of a variety of construction activities.
  • Performs physical inspection of a variety of discipline activities which may include but not limited to; piping, civil, concrete, fixed and rotating equipment, electrical, control systems, coatings, insulation, and non-destructive testing.
  • Performs additional assignments per Division Manager's request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Quality Manager in Heavy Construction and Project environments.
  • Proficiency with all necessary technological tools, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures for Civil, Project and Mining applications.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage at all levels in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to exercise good business judgment and common sense when making recommendations and decisions.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in an environment where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the Company at jobsites and Corporate office, and effectively deal with vendors, clients and regulatory agencies.
