About the position

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) personnel and quality programs within a food processing plant. This role involves planning and implementing the quality management program, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations, and advocating for high-quality products and processes. The supervisor will manage the QA team, coordinate training, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders to maintain food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and coordinates the activities of the FSQA team for quality and food safety program implementation.
  • Manages the QA Supervisor on the responsible shift.
  • Monitors activities to ensure team member safety and reports unsafe acts to prevent incidents.
  • Coordinates with the site safety team for annual LOTO training for the FSQA team.
  • Advocates new quality policies and procedures to ensure high-quality products and services.
  • Communicates programs and procedures to FSQA and other plant team members through training.
  • Maintains good communication and working relationships with the FSQA team, Operations team, and USDA personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with USDA regulations.
  • Acts as a backup to the QA Manager for facilitating third-party or customer audits.
  • Interfaces with facility team to assist in problem-solving using root cause analyses.
  • Ensures customer quality programs meet or exceed requirements.
  • Communicates issues to site management to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Completes additional tasks as directed by the QA Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field, or three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Good math and analytical skills.
  • Dependable, prompt, and possess strong integrity and work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and flexible, able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in poultry further processing or slaughter preferred.
  • GFSI (specifically BRC) Training preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $60,000 - $72,000 per year.
