About the position

The Pharmacy Technician I at Oak Street Health plays a crucial role in the Patient Experience & Services Operations (PXSO) team, ensuring an exceptional patient experience. This position serves as a liaison among patients, providers, and pharmacists, focusing on delivering high-quality customer service and effective communication while managing medication requests and patient interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Field inbound calls for refill requests, investigate status of refill, and fulfill medication renewal requests as indicated.
  • Responsible for handling 40-50 calls per day.
  • Maintain licensure and certification as required.
  • Complete all Continuing Education expectations.
  • Coordinate with center care teams to overcome barriers preventing patients from receiving refills.
  • Utilize electronic medical record platform to send requests and updates to field care teams.
  • Document clear and precise information into applicable electronic platforms.
  • Capture and document all patient requests prior to ending call.
  • Monitor CareReq queue to ensure completion of any open requisitions.
  • Arrange transportation for center visits and schedule patient appointments as needed.
  • Engage triage nurse using warm transfers when necessary.
  • Make outbound calls to pharmacies on behalf of the patient when needed.
  • Execute prescription requests according to up-to-date process standards and policies.
  • Engage with patients in a distraction-free environment.
  • Meet and exceed departmental metrics and stay informed of changes to department metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year retail pharmacy experience required.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License in the state of residence.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite preferred.
  • Ability to execute daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality customer service.
  • Deliver confident and professional service to Oak Street Health patients and internal partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, medical Spanish a plus.
