Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to serving immigrants and asylum seekers with high-quality legal services, advocacy, and support. The organization is binational, operating in El Paso, TX, southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Founded in 1987, Las Americas was established to address the unmet legal needs of Central Americans fleeing civil war and political unrest. Since its inception, the organization has served nearly 50,000 individuals while advocating for a robust asylum system, working to reunify separated families, and pushing for systemic changes to U.S. immigration policy and practices. Today, Las Americas stands as a leading-edge organization rooted in social justice and human rights, comprising legal service providers, social workers, communicators, and policy experts focused on the needs of marginalized communities at the intersection of poverty and immigration. The public relations intern plays a critical role in responding to anti-immigrant laws in Texas, particularly in supporting the strategic communications team. This position offers hands-on experience during a pivotal time for the state, where the intern will assist in executing various strategies to build and maintain key performance metrics. Reporting directly to the director of strategic communications and collaborating closely with the executive director, the intern will be involved in a range of activities aimed at enhancing the organization's public relations efforts.
