Contract Public Health Support Specialist
About The Position
The Greenup County Health Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Contract Public Health Support Specialist. This position plays an important role in supporting daily public health operations and providing excellent customer service to our community. Under direct supervision, the Public Health Support Specialist provides administrative and customer support for various public health programs and services. This position interacts regularly with patients, clients, and the public while assisting staff with scheduling, records management, billing support, and routine office operations using an electronic medical records (EMR) system. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible daytime schedule while gaining experience in a professional healthcare/public service setting.
Requirements
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer and office skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must complete an application and submit it either in person or via email (excluding social security number)
- Must complete a background check and drug screening
- Ongoing training will be required after hire

Responsibilities
- Greeting and assisting clients and visitors
- Answering and directing calls on a multi-line phone system
- Scheduling appointments and directing clients to appropriate staff
- Data entry and maintaining accurate records/files
- Collecting and recording fees
- Assisting with WIC and clinical program support
- Preparing routine letters, forms, labels, and reports
- Ordering office supplies and maintaining inventory
- Gathering patient and insurance information
