About The Position

The Patient Safety & Quality Coordinator leads, manages, and supports system wide projects to improve quality outcomes and reduce safety events across the Bronson System. The PSQ Coordinator must be experienced in leading teams and able to facilitate system-wide transformation and culture change to produce optimal outcomes. This individual works with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians and executives to evaluate, assess and plan for improvement. The Project Manager also measures and evaluates the data to determine effectiveness of change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BSN or BS)
  • three to five years of experience including clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • 1-2 years of experience specific to leading teams is required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan
  • Must demonstrate ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job.
  • Must demonstrate high level of ability to analyze and interpret complex data and turning this into information usable to drive improvement of clinical outcomes.
  • Experience working directly with physicians and leaders to set goals, incentives and establish measures of success.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement change management.
  • Demonstrated skills in performance improvement tools and methodologies within a complex healthcare organization and/or large multi-specialty physician group practice.
  • This must be coupled with demonstrated success in the management of clinical process improvement and patient safety science as well as a proven track record in the application of such.
  • Regularly communicates both orally and in writing with physicians, management and healthcare professionals to make presentations, discuss findings, answer questions, and obtain or exchange information pertinent to their information requirements.
  • Requires excellent communication skills and a positive customer relations orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management responsibilities that identifies and analyzes project scope and objectives for alignment with the overall strategic plan.
  • Responsible for managing multiple projects ranging in scope from low complexity to high complexity and single entity to system wide.
  • Acts as a change agent to lead the system through times of changing priorities and focus.
  • Interfaces with a wide range of individuals from executive level to front line staff, external organizations and physicians.
  • Analyze large data sets to determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Create and lead multidisciplinary team to identify gaps in care and develop and implement action plans.
  • Presents recommendations to System and Entity Committees including Performance Improvement Committees, Medical Executive Committees, the Executive Team and the Board Quality Committee.
  • Applies and mentors/coaches high reliability principles.
  • Provides education and coaching to department based and hospital PI committees regarding quality measures, tactics and action plans.
  • Develops, coaches and mentors staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides direct support to Patient Safety and Quality management.
