About the position

The Psychology Pre-Doctoral Fellow position at UnityPoint Health focuses on conducting pediatric outpatient evaluations for autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. The role involves working closely with a team of psychologists, psychometrists, and various therapists to provide comprehensive assessments and support for children with developmental challenges. This position is primarily clinical but also offers opportunities for training and research, making it ideal for candidates nearing the completion of their doctoral degree in psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis intervention services and behavior management training as needed.
  • Administers and scores psychological and neuro-psychological testing, assessment, and evaluation for adult, adolescent, and child inpatients and outpatients.
  • Prepares psychological or neuro-psychological assessment reports.
  • Exercises independent judgment in diagnostic assessment and treatment planning.
  • Provides individual and/or group psychotherapy and counseling to outpatients and to inpatients on occasion.
  • Maintains discipline-specific professional and ethical standards.
  • Facilitates problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Performs functions other than described due to extenuating circumstances.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree near completion.
  • Successful completion of APA-accredited internship.
  • Prior experience working in pediatric assessment and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Prior experience in applied behavior analysis preferred.
  • Fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with crisis intervention services.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
