The Psychiatric Social Worker II position at Custody Health Services involves providing counseling, psychotherapy, case management, and treatment services to patients in custody at various County Jail facilities. The role focuses on delivering mental health care to incarcerated individuals, including acute psychiatric services, and requires working in a secure environment. Candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.

Responsibilities

• Perform intensive case management, counseling, psychotherapy, and treatment services with patients or clients and their families.
• Participate in the evaluation of problems presented and in the development of treatment plans.
• May participate in group therapy programs.
• Prepare social case histories with emphasis on psycho-social factors affecting the patient or client.
• Cooperate with staff and other community agencies in carrying out treatment plans.
• Participate in psychotherapy programs with psychiatric staff treatment teams.
• Interpret and explain social and emotional factors pertaining to illness to clients, relatives, and community groups.
• Evaluate new techniques for dealing with emotional and environmental problems.
• Refer patients or clients to appropriate community agencies.
• May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW), as required.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license.
• Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work.
• Possession of a valid California driver's license prior to appointment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a correctional or institutional setting.
• Knowledge of community behavioral health and substance use interventions.
