About the position

We are currently looking for a medical assistant (36 hours/week) to room patients for the Pulmonary department. Position is eligible for full-time benefits including medical and dental insurance. Applicants do not need previous experience or training/certification as a medical assistant but do need to meet the minimum requirements for the position. Other part-time and full-time opportunities may be available. $3,000 HIRING BONUS for eligible candidates. As a provider assistant at HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater, you are responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinical setting that include documentation of medical information, administration of medications/vaccinations and treatments, as well as obtaining medical histories, vital signs, etc. The provider assistant assists the healthcare providers in the timely delivery of services per physician/RN direction and according to Clinic policies and procedures. All programs and activities are designed to support the short- and long-term mission, vision, goals, and objectives of HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and document basic medical history
  • Take vital signs and document findings in the patient record
  • Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
  • Administer immunizations
  • Monitor messages and relay clinician responses via phone calls
  • Enter orders for laboratory services

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with or without certification (AAMA or AMT) OR
  • Current LPN (MN and WI license required) OR
  • Graduate of an accredited EMT program plus current EMT license (national and Minnesota)
  • Current CPR certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Nice-to-haves

  • One year medical assistant or LPN experience in a clinic
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record software
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients, families, and care team members
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in all interactions
  • Understanding of patient education needs, able to effectively share information with patient, family members and care team members as needed
  • Ability to learn, retain information regarding patient care procedures
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
