About the position

The Prosthetist Orthotist Clinician (CPO, Board Eligible) at Hanger, Inc. in Petersburg, VA, is responsible for providing comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care to patients. This role involves assessing patient needs, formulating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes. The clinician will leverage their clinical expertise and innovative technologies to improve patient mobility and quality of life, while also participating in practice management and mentoring new clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians in evaluating patient needs for prosthetic and/or orthotic services.
  • Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate design of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Select materials, make cast measurements, and model modifications.
  • Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate prosthetic and/or orthotic devices on patients and adjust for fit and function.
  • Instruct patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Identify and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Utilize effective materials management and quality processes.
  • Meet with physicians and case managers to enhance business relationships.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
  • May mentor residents or newly certified clinicians.
  • Assist other clinical staff as needed.
  • Provide information for reimbursement activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent, and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
  • A valid driver's license and driving record within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state licensure if required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Effective communication skills for oral and written presentations.
  • Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel.
  • Good interpersonal skills for building professional relationships.
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills.
