About the position

The Bookkeeper position is essential for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations for a reputable company in the Yuba-Sutter area. The role involves managing a large portfolio and collaborating closely with the Controller to maintain financial integrity and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of financial transactions, including credits and debits, in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Accurately process invoices, vendor payments, and financial reconciliations.
  • Prepare and distribute financial statements, reports, and summaries to the management team.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to assist in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including managing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
  • Provide support during audits and assist in preparing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and best practices in accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • Proven work experience as an Accountant, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience managing a large portfolio and overseeing an accounting department.
  • Strong knowledge of credits, debits, and general ledger management.
  • Familiarity with property management financial processes is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
  • Experience with Yardi software is a big plus, but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Experience with vendor management and processing payments is a big plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in property management and Yardi will be given special consideration.
