This role involves conducting exterior and interior inspections of single-family and multi-family residential dwellings, enforcing compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations, and recommending modifications as necessary. The inspector will also approve inspected dwellings for rental property licenses and annual license issuance for multi-family dwellings. Responsibilities include inspecting dwelling exteriors for minimum code compliance, explaining code requirements to property owners and the public, retrieving license and permit information, maintaining inspection files and reports, and testifying in court as necessary. Additionally, the role involves inspecting plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems, and other building components. Other duties include conducting meetings with citizen groups, overseeing vehicle maintenance, investigating public complaints, and assisting in training other inspectors.
