The Project Systems Engineer at CompassMSP will play a crucial role in managing and executing challenging technical projects while also serving as an escalation point for first and second tier support engineers. This position is designed for a highly technical individual who possesses strong troubleshooting skills and a natural inclination towards leadership and customer service. The role is primarily based in our W. Hartford, CT office, with occasional travel required to client sites. The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple tasks of varying sizes and complexities across different client infrastructures, ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently and effectively. In this role, the Project Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, and rebuilding existing servers, as well as configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage. The engineer will also design, install, and configure virtualized environments, specifically using VMware and Hyper-V technologies. Additionally, the position requires expertise in configuring Microsoft infrastructures, including Windows Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Office 365, Active Directory, and Group Policies. The engineer will also be tasked with installing and troubleshooting various third-party software solutions, such as Datto, Shadow Protect, StorageCraft, Veeam, and ESET. Another key responsibility will be the configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of firewall technologies, including site-to-site VPNs, security services, QoS, high availability, load balancing, and routing. Familiarity with SonicWall and Fortinet products is preferred. The engineer will also be involved in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructures, with experience in Cisco IOS firewalls, routers, switches, and HP/Aruba switching being advantageous. The role will also include providing escalation assistance and coaching or training to other team members, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment. The Project Systems Engineer must be willing to work varying hours, including after normal hours and on weekends, to minimize client impact, and should be able to lift and move computer and network equipment as necessary.
