About the position

The Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the safety and execution of construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with safety policies and project specifications. This role involves direct supervision of field labor, managing relationships with clients and subcontractors, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The Superintendent plays a crucial role in fostering a safe work environment and ensuring quality standards are met throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors by enforcing HPA safety policies and programs.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of the field labor force.
  • Inspect Contractor or Subcontract operations for compliance with contracts.
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with the Project Manager.
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of the Owner and Architect/Engineer.
  • Develop and maintain a site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct quality inspections and coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and materials.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through actions and mentoring others.
  • Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring activities occur on or ahead of schedule dates.
  • Prepare and submit Superintendent Daily Reports.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.

Requirements

  • Broad understanding of the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with project drawings, specifications, and contract terms.
  • Good math/accounting skills.
  • Over 15 years of experience in Pump Station Construction or Heavy Civil Construction.
  • Dependability and excellent time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong management skills and ability to develop client relationships.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities and function effectively as part of a team.
  • Estimating skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving, bridge construction, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical scopes.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately.
  • Junior College or Vocational education desired.
  • OSHA certification and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with E-Builder, eCMS, or RMS.
  • Procore experience is preferred.
  • Prolog experience is preferred.
  • Bluebeam experience is preferred.
  • Autodesk Revit experience is preferred.
