About the position

The Project Officer - Child Care at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) plays a crucial role in enhancing the child care sector in New Jersey, which is vital for the state's economic recovery and resilience. This position involves managing and implementing programs that provide grants and technical assistance to child care providers, ensuring they have the necessary resources to improve their operations and facilities. The Project Officer will work closely with various stakeholders to support the growth and sustainability of child care services in the state.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess eligibility of program applicants for child care facilities improvement grants.
  • Follow up with applicants for complete documents and ensure timely review and communication.
  • Manage relationships with child care program applicants and grantees, providing support and troubleshooting questions.
  • Utilize CRM/Enable to process applications, generate reports, and verify financial records.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for the review of applications and execution of grant agreements.
  • Process payments for programs managed by the Economic Security team.
  • Track, aggregate, and report on program spending and performance indicators.
  • Support various projects and strategic initiatives to advance the business goals of the Community Development Economic Security team.
  • Promote teamwork and communication to foster a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in government, nonprofit, grant management, or similar organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software packages.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree or industry-specific certification may substitute for 1 year of experience.
