About the position

The Project Monitoring Assistant role at Food For The Poor is crucial for overseeing various projects aimed at alleviating poverty in the Caribbean and Latin America. This position ensures that projects align with their objectives and reporting standards, facilitating communication between project managers and implementing partners. The assistant is responsible for monitoring project progress, ensuring data integrity, and supporting compliance with donor reporting requirements, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of serving the poorest communities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress towards expected outcomes and ensure the accuracy of project field data.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports with Project Managers, ensuring alignment with timelines and objectives.
  • Ensure timely action by Project Managers and implementing partners to address project challenges identified during evaluations.
  • Facilitate the development of digital project monitoring formats, calendars, and quality assurance processes.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure additional project information is provided and support the quality control of received information.
  • Contribute to final reports at the end of the project's monitoring period and participate in lessons-learned meetings.
  • Document opportunities and lessons learned in deployed projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of reporting and compliance guidelines for assigned projects.
  • Ensure regular updating of reporting and compliance guidelines for key donors.
  • Uphold a high standard of accountability, ensuring transparency in projects and interventions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, International Development or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in project monitoring and evaluation within the relief and development sector.
  • At least 2 years of experience working at a humanitarian and/or development organization.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and reporting mechanisms.
  • Strong grasp of all stages of program cycle management and quality standards in humanitarian and development programs.
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and report production.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in humanitarian and development organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
