About The Position

The Project Manager will be responsible for pre-sale project support to reduce post-sale issues and costs, post-sale project management for Multivac and 3rd party equipment, and project management for special technical initiatives and specific projects as defined by Multivac senior management. This role involves reviewing customer specifications, working with technical documentation specialists, making factory visits, maintaining relationships with third-party automation companies, operating within an annual expense budget, attending trade shows and sales meetings, and continuously learning about the packaging industry. The position also requires working with management to ensure adequate resource allocation for projects and participating in project review meetings to identify resource limitations and inform stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical curriculum or equivalent from four-year College or University; and five years technical experience creating, planning, and executing automation systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years project management experience (primary packaging preferred) in the food industry.
  • Previous high complexity and high visibility project management experience required.
  • Commercial aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; reason and analyse options.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to design cost-effective & efficient solutions within customer budgets.
  • Knowledge of MS-Office programs, MS Project or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of 2D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent).
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
  • CAPM Certification or higher through the PMI.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual French would be an asset.
  • 3D SolidWorks would be a benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-sale project support to reduce post-sale issues and costs.
  • Post-sale project management for Multivac and 3rd party equipment.
  • Project management for special technical initiatives and specific projects as defined by Multivac senior management.
  • Review of customer specific specifications and requirements, submittal of recommended exceptions within a necessary project timeline.
  • Work closely with Multivac and 3rd Party Technical Documentation Specialist(s) to facilitate the creation and consolidation of Technical Order Documents.
  • Ensure that Multivac is conforming to all safety regulations (CSA, ESA, MUWO Corporate, CE, etc.)
  • Make MULTIVAC factory visits as necessary to accomplish all technical responsibilities of the job, including but not limited to maintaining current knowledge of MULTIVAC product development.
  • When applicable, maintain strategic relationships with third party automation companies to complement MULTIVAC’s offering and extend our line solutions.
  • Facilitate negotiation of purchase terms and conditions with these suppliers, establish specifications by project, and establish performance criteria for FAT & SAT’s.
  • Operate within annual expense budget and assist Sales Team to meet annual sales goals.
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, sales meetings, and other company specified activities, as required.
  • Be an active student of the packaging industry, MULTIVAC, automation, and the competition to facilitate personal growth through internal and external resources.
  • Works with management to assure sufficient resources are estimated and allocated to each project.
  • Participate in Project review meetings to include Sales and Technical personnel in order to highlight resource limitations and inform stakeholders early in the project post-sales phase.
