About the position

The Project Manager at HNTB is responsible for managing assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work on time and within budget. This role involves developing project scopes, managing client relationships, overseeing technical tasks, and coordinating with internal and external partners. The Project Manager will lead project teams on water resource portions of transportation projects, focusing on stormwater management, erosion control, and hydraulic analysis, while adhering to HNTB's performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope and fee quotations, and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to ensure completion to the client's satisfaction.
  • Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implement the firm's project delivery plan and lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
  • Supervise and mentor the project team to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment and performance reviews.
  • Assist with business development and client relationship building for strategic projects.
  • Lead proposal development and interview presentations for projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge in multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience in delivering projects on-time, on-budget, and with client satisfaction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Local municipal and/or Michigan DOT experience and relationships.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Michigan or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Experience working on transportation projects.
  • Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) hydraulic design experience.
  • Experience using MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Experience using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
