About the position

The Project Manager Innovation at Avangrid is responsible for overseeing the engineering and construction of smart grid projects across Maine, New York, and Connecticut. This role involves managing resource requirements, project execution strategies, and ensuring compliance with corporate goals for smart technology deployment. The Project Manager will also handle Customer Funded Projects, coordinating with various stakeholders and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage activities for the engineering and construction of smart grid projects/programs.
  • Oversee Customer Funded Projects in Connecticut and possibly New York.
  • Coordinate activities of project team members including engineers, construction managers, and external contractors.
  • Hold contractors and project team members accountable for performance and results.
  • Provide technical advice to senior management when required.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in conformance to quality and engineering standards.
  • Define strategy for deployment of pilot projects or other smart grid initiatives.
  • Interface with municipal stakeholders and local permitting agencies.
  • Participate in project team scheduling and budgetary planning processes.
  • Analyze project unit performance and initiate actions to control scope, schedule, and cost performance.
  • Represent the company in regulatory and public forums.
  • Promote automation and efficiencies in day-to-day work streams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant experience in the energy industry.
  • 5-7 years of relevant project management or engineering experience.
  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Expertise in integrating Scheduling IT tools and software, particularly Primavera.
  • Expertise in risk management and mitigation plans.
  • Proficient in MS Excel for data analysis, budgeting, and planning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of distributed generation and energy storage trends.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and supplier management.
  • Proven experience obtaining siting permits.
