About the position

The Project Manager (Hydraulic Engineering) will lead hydraulic transportation projects within the Transportation Team at HWC Engineering. This role involves managing multiple drainage projects, conducting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and designing stormwater collection systems. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including government agencies and consulting firms.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a Project Manager on hydraulic transportation projects.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Design stormwater collection systems and size drainage structures such as culverts, small structures, and bridges.
  • Design detention ponds and develop drainage reports.
  • Develop drainage details for transportation projects.
  • Lead drainage design staff (PE's, EI's, and Techs) on INDOT and Local Agency projects.
  • Manage multiple transportation drainage projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage project budgets.
  • Assist with drainage plan development of locally and federally funded City, State, and County projects.
  • Interact effectively with consulting firms, INDOT staff, local government agency staff, and HWC staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • 5+ years' transportation drainage design and Project Management experience.
  • Professional Engineering License in Indiana or the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Indiana.
  • Knowledge of INDOT drainage requirements for federally funded projects.
  • Proven working knowledge of Microstation, InRoads or ORD, and MS Office software.
  • Proven working knowledge of drainage design software such as HY-8, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS or equivalent drainage software.
  • Ability to think critically, manage time, and problem solve.
  • Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
  • Complete competence working well independently and on a team.
  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of commitment to self-development and teamwork.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and/or the INDOT LPA program.
  • Experience working with Indianapolis DPW.
