About the position

The Project Manager will oversee multiple projects in the marine construction sector, focusing on estimating, bidding, business development, and project administration. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project administration, including preparing work scopes and organizing cost structure.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update master schedule and rolling schedule.
  • Identify, formalize, prepare, and submit contract modification proposals and distribute change documents to all affected parties.
  • Issue and expedite requests for quotations to subcontractors and vendors and review quotes for fairness and accuracy.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the project Superintendent to ensure a safe and productive project execution.
  • Assist Superintendent in implementing company policies and executing the project.
  • Responsible for financial reporting and updating commitment and projection information in the job costing system.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports incorporating subcontract amounts, material purchases, and change orders.
  • Prepare owner billing by assembling costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documents according to owner's requirements.
  • Prepare and assist estimating team on bids, including quoting work for smaller scope jobs and conducting quantity takeoffs.
  • Assist in negotiating contract terms and conditions with clients.
  • Review all subcontractor and vendor shop drawings, product data, and samples for compliance with contract documents.
  • Assist with Business Development.

Requirements

  • B.S. in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the construction field, particularly in heavy civil, railroads, bridges, or marine construction.
  • Knowledge of earth anchor, soil retention walls, pile driving, auger cast piles, micro piles, wells, and helical piers preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to internal and external clients.
  • Knowledge of project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, value engineering, and estimating).
  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications, prepare project submittals, and prepare post-job reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word along with scheduling and project management software (i.e., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Ability to work independently yet as part of a team.
