About The Position

An ENR Top 400 Contractor, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor, and BD+C Top 150 Contractor with nine offices, Rycon specializes in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects. Rycon’s portfolio includes projects in aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, student housing, food service/dining, data centers/mission critical, retail, financial, self-storage, government/municipality, and LEED facilities. We have an in-house Architectural Finishes & Specialty Fabrication Division that ships/installs nationally. We are seeking an experienced Special Projects Project Executive for our Charlotte office. The Project Executive will oversee Project Managers, Assistant Project Mangers, Project Engineers, project Superintendents and the day-to-day management of the projects they are assigned. The Project Executive will also protect and promote the interests of Rycon Construction in all matters on assigned projects, and to take actions as needed to ensure successful completion of the project.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8)+ years’ experience managing multiple projects
  • College degree in a construction/engineering field preferred, but not required
  • Must have the ability to direct complex projects from concept to full closeout
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to create material take-offs
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Project.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Procore
  • Marketing and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented problem solver

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Special Projects Management teams (PMs, PEs, Supers, Admins); advise on purchasing, cost control, and daily operations.
  • Ensure project procedures follow company policies and standards.
  • Oversee schedules, ensuring accuracy, milestones, and timely updates.
  • Review and manage owner contracts; resolve issues with leadership support as needed.
  • Assist with subcontractor agreements and resolve contract markups.
  • Evaluate team performance and staffing needs; clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Track project progress, budget, and schedule; resolve issues with PMs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate handling of change orders.
  • Identify cost issues and support preconstruction as needed.
  • Monitor project profitability and report to leadership regularly.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, and partners.
  • Step in on escalated project issues when needed.
  • Support business development with clients.
  • Improve internal processes and operations.
  • Oversee billing, payments, and coordination with accounting.
  • Develop and mentor staff; conduct performance reviews.
  • Coordinate with field teams to resolve issues and strengthen collaboration.
  • Ensure safety coordination with the Safety Department.
  • Attend project meetings to stay aligned on status and risks.
  • Oversee project closeout, including final documentation, punch list, and payment.
